Substance Abuse Counseling

We know that coming to awareness that one’s alcohol/drug use is problematic, and can be one of the hardest and yet most important steps in the journey to recovery. We help you find your “why.” By gaining awareness and insight into your substance use behavior, we help you find your unique reasons and motivation for change.

We support and guide you through the process of awareness-preparation-action-and sustaining change.

Relapse does not have to be part of recovery, but we know that it can and does happen. We are right there with you when relapse happens. We know that picking up the substance is the last stage of the relapse. We work together to understand what led up to the relapse. With that knowledge, we help you develop strategies and re-commit to a program of recovery – however that can best work for you.

We do utilize 12-step recovery principles, because in our experience, many people are able to make and sustain a lasting recovery. But we also know that it isn’t for everyone. We help you find the path to recovery that works for you. That lasts for you.

Long Island Substance Abuse Counselor

Alcohol/ Drug Educational Counseling

Long Island Alcohol & Drug Education
Although you may not meet the criteria for a substance use disorder, you may benefit from brief psycho-educational counseling.

We offer a time-limited series of sessions focused upon helping you make needed changes in thinking and behavior to avoid future negative consequences of alcohol/drug use.

The goal of these sessions is to educate you around the effects of alcohol/drugs on the brain and body, judgement and decision making, unintended consequences, adaptive coping skills and the risks and consequences of alcohol/drug use.

Restoring your Driver’s License

Restoring your license after a DWI/DUI or applying for a license for the first time after DWI/DUI can be a confusing process. New York State has specific requirements for reinstating your driving privilege including an impaired driver assessment (alcohol evaluation) within the previous 12-months and completion of any treatment requirements.

We help you navigate this system and complete the necessary steps to obtain or reinstate your driving privilege.
